NEW ULM
Florence (Varda) Truesdell, 87, of New Ulm, died Saturday, February 13, 2010 at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm with Pastor Donald Sutton officiating. Burial will follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery Soldier's Rest Section. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the time of the service at the church on Tuesday. Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm is handling the arrangements.
Florence is survived by her husband, Almond "Al" Truesdell of New Ulm; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Dennis Gorsline of New Ulm; son, Keith Truesdell of Owosso, Michigan; two grandchildren, Todd and his wife Kristi Gorsline of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Troy Gorsline of Waukesha, Wisconsin and two great grandchildren of Saginaw, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Eunice and Dorothy; two brothers, Raymond and Lloyd.
Florence Eleanor Varda was born on June 5, 1922 to John and Elsie (Tennermann) Varda in Stambaugh, Michigan. She was a 1942 graduate of Iron River High School in Iron River, Michigan. Florence was a retiree of Verizon, a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm, past member of Zonta and a member of the Independent Telephone Pioneers.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials be given to St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church or to Oak Hills Living Center.
