NEW ULM
Irene Dauer, 86, of New Ulm, died Monday, March 15, 2010 at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm. Funeral service will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at the United Church of Christ in New Ulm with Pastor Hank Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery. Visitation will be 1:30 p.m. until the time of the service at the church on Saturday. Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm is hangling the arrangements.
Irene is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Ronelva Dauer of Fairmont, Michael and Jane Dauer of Aitkin, Gary and Glenda Dauer of Leader, Sheila Dauer of St. Peter; 12 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; brother, Roman Guth of New Ulm; sister-in-law, Marie Guth of Marshall. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Melvin "Butch" Dauer in 1970; son, Tom Dauer; brothers, Lester and Elmer Guth; sister, Esther Guth.
Irene Gertrude Guth was born on April 29, 1923 to August and Hertha (Rose) Guth in New Ulm. She attended and graduated from New Ulm High School. On March 19, 1949 she was united in marriage to Melvin "Butch" Dauer in New Ulm. As a young family they spent a lot of time hunting and fishing together. Irene enjoyed being a homemaker, she worked part time at New Ulm Grocery for 7 years and also at Coast to Coast for 15 years. Irene loved spending time with her brother, Romie and all her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She was a resident at Oak Hills Living Center for the past 8 years, where she enjoyed visiting with friends, playing cards, bingo and listening to polka music.
Irene was a member of the United Church of Christ.
